Groups

This Groups manage communications of groups and channels, including group creation, member visibility, academic year filtering, and role-based actions.

Group Types

  • Custom Groups – User-created groups for specific purposes.

  • Default Groups – System-generated or predefined groups.

Add New Group

The Basic Information tab captures the core details of the group.

  • Group Avatar - Upload an image for your group

  • File Upload - Choose file – No file chosen. Upload your file here

  • Group Name - Enter a unique name for the group.

  • Description - Provide a clear description of the group's purpose, objectives, or scope

  • Type - Select either Custom (user-defined) or Default (system-generated). Default groups may have restricted edit options

  • Academic Year - Choose the academic year during which the group is active. Select an item from dropdown

  • Private Group Toggle – Anyone can join this group (if unchecked, group is private/invite-only)

  • Bidirectional Messaging Toggle – Anyone can send messages (if unchecked, only admins/moderators can send)

  • Please add unique values for the Group Name.

Group List

  • Name – Displays the group name

  • Description – Shows the group description

  • Type – Indicates whether the group is Custom or Default

  • Academic Year – Shows the associated academic year

  • Visibility – Displays Private or Public

  • Owner – Shows the creator or assigned owner

  • Created At – Displays the timestamp of creation

  • Actions – Edit, delete, or manage members for each group

Key Features

  • Dual Group Types – Separate Custom Groups (user-managed) from Default Groups (system-managed).

  • Academic Year Groups – Groups can be tied to specific academic years.

  • Privacy Controls – Toggle between private (invite-only) and public (anyone can join) groups.

  • Messaging Permissions – Bidirectional messaging toggle controls whether all members can send messages or only admins/moderators.
